To work or not to work?

Like many other students, I have worked part-time throughout my time at university. Most people choose to work because they need some extra money but there are many other benefits to having a job. For example, you can gain life experience, make new friends and, most importantly, show future employers that you are capable of managing your time and that you have a range of skills outside of your subject of study. A good place to start your job search is the myVacancies section on the careers service website, which lists a wide range of jobs and is updated regularly. It’s also a good idea to check the jobs section on the Students’ Union website, where they often advertise casual jobs that are well-suited to students’ needs.

The most important thing to remember is that your job must fit around your studies and social commitments. If you can find something that will help you down your chosen career path or something that you enjoy and find fulfilling then that’s even better.
