CVs and Covering Letters

Do you need some help with CVs and covering letters? Perhaps you’ve been working on your CV and you just want someone to have a look at it, or maybe you haven’t got a CV and need advice on how to create one. Either way, the Careers Service is happy to help!

As a starting point we have a vast amount of information on our website to help you with job applications. On our ‘Writing a CV’ page we have a list of hints and tips, an online talk, an interactive CV guide and some examples:

If writing a covering letter is what you find most difficult then we have examples, an online talk, and hints and tips for this too:

Whilst you’re looking at the Careers Service website, why not look at our What’s On events diary:

We run lots of events each semester, including talks and workshops on CVs and applications.

Before you use your CV and covering letter to make job applications, you might want to bring it in for a member of staff to review it and make further suggestions. We offer 15-minute sessions each weekday at the Careers Service; ring 0114 2220910 or call in to book a time.
