Success at NUE Awards for Sheffield student

We're always proud of our students, they always manage to amaze us with the different things they do, and we think they're fantastic. We get especially excited when someone else agrees with us, so you can imagine how excited we were when a University of Sheffield student won the award for 'Best Student Contribution to a Small or Medium-sized Enterprise' at the NUE Awards!

Mihaela Gruia - a Politics student at the University of Sheffield - received the award for her contributions during her placement year with FlieshmanHillard, a PR company based in Brussels.

Of the award, Mihaela said; 'I am honoured to have received the award in celebration of my achievements during the placement year at FleishmanHillard in Brussels. I was particularly impressed with the organisation of the event, from the inspiring speakers sharing their wisdom about business and innovation, to the invaluable networking opportunities with employers and students from all over the country.
'The most important lesson I learned from this experience is that I have to work hard and put myself out there in order to have a chance at winning. The NUE Awards were a fantastic opportunity to seize and I am so glad I decided to apply. Thus, I wholeheartedly recommend it to any student returning to university from their placement years. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain out of it!
'Overall, the words that stayed with me after the event were; 'be active, work hard, be resilient and never give up'! Thanks again to the organisers, the shiny award is a delight to look at every morning.'

Awards such as the NUE awards are a great opportunity for students to gain recognition for extra achievements. There are loads of opportunities that run all year round that are open to students, to gain recognition for different experiences.

This week saw the launch of the Student Employee of the Year awards, in which students can be nominated for an award by their employer, or even nominate their employer for an award too!

So if you think you've been an exceptional student employee, let your employer know and ask them to nominate you! You never know, you just might find yourself holding up your own award, like Lewis Yates did at the SEOTY awards last year.
