Finalists – thinking about life after university?

Right now it’s the January exam period and you want to concentrate on getting that degree because, after all, that’s what you’re here for! However, have you thought about what you are going to do once you graduate? If you know what you want to do then that’s great! If you don’t yet know then you may want to start to give it some thought. Although it’s six months away, the sooner that you get started with career planning then the easier it will be.

What do we mean by career planning? Well, it means thinking about what you enjoy and what you might prefer to avoid, finding out about possible careers that interest you and making sure that you have the right skills and experience to give you the best chance of success. It doesn’t mean that you have to decide what you are going to do for the next 40 years!

So why not make good use of the time that you have after your exams finish and before semester 2 deadlines begin? As a starting point you could explore the ‘Choosing your Career’ section of our website:

You might also want to keep an eye on our What’s On diary, to see if we are running any events in the new semester that are of interest to you:

Whilst it can be tempting to bury your head in the sand, you really will feel the benefit in the long term if you get started with your career planning now!
